Changpeng Zhao: I don’t want to return as the head of Binance

Binance

The founder and former CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao (known as CZ), shared the details of his departure from the post of the head of the largest cryptocurrency exchange. According to him, there is currently no agreement that would permanently ban him from working in the company. However, the conditions may change in the future, although Zhao himself does not intend to return to the role of CEO, even if it is allowed. His statement raises interest among the community. The fact is that Zhao’s return could have a significant impact on Binance’s future development, given his role in establishing the trading platform. During the statement, Zhao also talked about his experience with law enforcement officers when he was temporarily detained. The specialist mentioned that some of the guards were interested in cryptocurrencies and even asked him which coins were worth buying.

CZ noted that due to his lack of internet access, he was unable to answer their questions. This episode highlights the growing interest in digital currencies not only among investors but also in other circles. Notably, Zhao did not express negative emotions about his experience. He noted that some security guards could be a bit strict, but overall he did not encounter any physical conflicts or abuse.

Zhao’s rejection of a possible return as Binance CEO may be a signal that the company will move toward greater autonomy and diversified governance. The exchange has long faced regulatory pressure around the world, and the past change in leadership has been seen as part of a strategy to improve its reputation and reduce regulatory risk. New CEO Richard Teng is focused on building more sustainable relationships with governments and financial regulators.
