The US presidential election is just days away. Of course, members of the cryptocurrency community are keeping an eye on this event. Recently, MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor published a tweet describing Donald Trump’s position on taxation of the cryptocurrency segment. However, many of Saylor’s followers noted that this information was very likely a fake. The head of MicroStrategy cited a quote where Donald Trump responded that bitcoin is money, which at the same time should not be taxed. However, researchers were able to establish that it was a user under the nickname X basedkarbon who first published such information. The post claimed that Donald Trump raised the topic of taxation of digital assets during one of his interviews. As a result, this post went viral among various crypto-enthusiasts. Over the past week, Trump has participated in two interviews with podcasters Joe Rogan and Sean Hannity on Fox News. Indeed, Donald Trump has floated the idea of potentially eliminating the federal income tax. But he hasn’t specifically talked about cryptocurrencies. It turns out that among many figures in the digital asset segment, the initially fake post curdled.

Due to the peculiarities of the electoral conglomerate in the United States, the outcome of the presidential race will depend on votes in critical states, including Wisconsin, Georgia and Pennsylvania. In this context, it is worth noting Donald Trump’s dramatic change of rhetoric regarding digital coins.

As a sitting US president, he repeatedly called cryptocurrencies a scam. But now he advocates that bitcoin should become part of the country’s strategic financial reserve. For her part, Kamala Harris said that as president, she will support the development of innovation, including blockchain technology.
